Cheadle and Gatley
Borrowdale Road and other roads, Gatley
We're making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
We'll introduce:
Temporary Prohibition of Driving
Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Borrowdale Avenue, Gatley, Gainford Avenue to Appleby Road.
Diversions will be provided via:
- Gainford Avenue and Appleby Road
- Church Lane, Marple, Trinity Street to roundabout
- Church Lane, Ridge Road, Hawk Green Road, Upper Hibbert Lane and Hibbert Lane
- Gibb Lane, Mellor, approximately 50 metres to the entrance of Mellor Golf Club
There will be no diversion, access only on School Lane, Compstall between Campville Farm and Hyde’s Farm. Access to residents only.
Temporary footway closure
Temporary closure of Ashwood Crescent footpath for the full Length. Diversions will be provided via:
- Oakdene Road
- Norbury Drive
- Bowden Lane
- Seven Stiles Drive
- Aspenwood Close
- Borrowdale Avenue, Gatley, Fairway to Borrowdale Avenue.
Diversion via Borrowdale Avenue:
- Troutbeck Road
- Footpath Troutbeck Road to Yew Tree Grove
- Yew Tree Grove
- Styal Road
- Firs Road
- Linksway and Fairway
- Lower Fold, Marple, passageway rear of 21-39 Lower Fold to Lowry Drive
Diversion via Lower Fold, Hogarth Road and Lowry Drive.
It's anticipated that the work will take up to 3 weeks.
This order will come into operation on the 24 January 2025 and will have effect for 18 months, unless work finishes sooner.

Footpath 105
We're making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
We'll temporarily close Footpath 105, Cheadle and Gatley, from Heathbank Road to the eastern side of the railway bridge. Traffic signs to that effect will be in place on or near the footpath.
This order is necessary to allow works to replace the railway bridge to take place.
Alternative routes will be provided via:
- north east for 50 metres along Heathbank Road 130 metres to Footpath 96, Cheadle and Gatley
- south west along the footpath for 350 metres, south east across the railway, and then north west for 320 metres to the other end of the closed section
This order is to come into operation on 20 January 2025 and will have effect for 18 months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, this order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

Bridleway 134
We're making an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
We'll temporarily close Bridleway 134 Cheadle and Gatley to non-pedestrian traffic for 70 metres from Ladybridge Road.
This order is necessary to allow for completion of works.
The alternative routes are:
- south on the footway to Cheadle Hulme Centre, then onto Station Road, Monmouth Road and Blenheim Road to bridleway 135
- north on the footway to Tenement Lane, then southeast toward Bramhall Park
The order will start on 19 January 2025 and will continue for 18 months unless the work finishes sooner or the Secretary of State for Transport approves a further period.

Bridleways 55c, 58c and 63
We're making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
There will be temporary footpath closures at:
- Bridleways 55c, 58c and 63 Cheadle and Gatley, between Etchells Road to Eden Park Road, for the complete length
- Bridleway 58b Cheadle and Gatley at Bradshaw Hall Lane
A diversion will be in place from Oakleigh Road to Cheadle Drive and vice versa (diversion 1) and Bradgate Avenue to Etchells Road and vice versa (diversion 2).
The order will start on 17 January 2025 and will continue for 6 months unless the work finishes sooner or the Secretary of State for Transport approves a further period.

Footpath 96
We propose making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The order will temporarily close Footpath 96 Cheadle and Gatley, Heald Green, from its junction with Wilmslow Road, to a point approximately 350 metres east, where the diverted route will rejoin the original line, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said footpath.
This order is necessary for public safety during housing development works.
Diversion route:
- from its junction with Wilmslow Road, in a southeasterly direction then easterly, then northerly to a point approximately 350 metres east, where the diverted route will rejoin the original line
This route will follow the boundary of the works enclosure and will be signed.
This order is to come into operation on the 28 December 2024 and will have effect for 18 months, unless work finishes sooner.
