Bredbury and Romiley

Footpath 6

We're making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.

We'll temporarily close part of footpath 6 from Compstall Road for 60 metres in a north-easterly direction to the bottom of the slope. Traffic signs to that effect will be in place on or near the footpath.

This order is necessary to allow work to take place due to flood damage on the steps.

We expect that the work will last for a maximum of 6 months.

Alternative routes will be from the car park of St Paul’s Church, Compstall in a north-westerly direction to footpath 6.

This order will come into operation on 6 February 2025, and will have effect for 6 months, unless works are finished earlier.

Footpath 52

We're making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.

We'll to temporarily close part of footpath 52 between Stockport Road East and footpath 51. Traffic signs to that effect will be in place on or near the footpath.

This order is necessary to allow works to take place.

We expect the work to start in late November, lasting for a maximum of 6 months.

The alternative route for pedestrians will be east on Stockport Road West to Mill Lane, north for around 245 metres, then west to the junction of the footpaths 51 and 52.

This order will come into operation on 4 November 2024, and will have effect for 6 months, unless works are finished earlier.

Bridleway 1 (School Lane)

We're making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.

We'll temporarily close part of bridleway 1, Bredbury and Romiley (School Lane) from Bardsley Knoll in a northerly direction for roughly 100 metres. Traffic signs to that effect will be in place on or near the bridleway.

This order is necessary to allow BT to replace a cable pole.

This order will come into operation on 19 July 2024, and will have effect for 6 months, unless works are finished earlier.

Footpath 5 BR

We're making an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.

We'll temporarily close footpath 5 Bredbury and Romiley between the junction with footpath 6 Bredbury and Romiley and School Lane, Compstall, while traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near said road.

This order is necessary to ensure public safety due to the collapsed footbridge. The bridge is expected to be replaced in January 2025.

We expect the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months.

The alternative route involves:

1. Following footpath 6 Bredbury and Romiley to Compstall Road
2. Going south east along Compstall Road
3. Going east along George Lane
4. Going north along John Street and School Lane

This order is to come into operation on the 28 of December 2024 and will have effect for 18 months, unless works are finished earlier.
