The Mayor of Stockport for 2020/21
Councillor Dean Fitzpatrick
Dean was born at Stepping Hill hospital, has lived in Stockport all of his life and comes from a long line of Stopfordians.
After attending St. Winifred's Primary, St. Anne's High and Xaverian College, Dean studied Social Policy at Leeds Metropolitan University.
In his spare time Dean has been a keen member of the Friends of Crescent Park since its formation in 2004.
First elected to Stockport Council in May 2011, and serving the Heatons South ward ever since, Dean has held a number of positions on the Council and outside bodies, including: Transport for Greater Manchester Committee, Chair of Employment Appeals, Cabinet Member for Education and Disability Champion.
Since his election, Dean completed an Open University degree (self-funded), and is passionate about using education for pleasure and as a way of offering people an opportunity to change their lives.
Dean has chosen Beacon Counselling - a local charity based on Middle Hillgate who support people suffering mental and emotional distress - as the Mayoral charity for the year.
During his Mayoral year Dean is keen to meet and say thank you to many of the amazing people who make Stockport such a wonderful place to live, work, learn and socialise.
