Specialist foster caring

Pat has fostered with Stockport Council for 10 years as a single foster carer. She began her fostering journey after her 2 biological daughters had grown up and flown the nest.

One of the young people Pat fostered was a teenage girl who got pregnant when she was 16. Pat didn’t think twice and became a mother and baby foster carer, helping her foster daughter throughout her pregnancy and into motherhood.

My foster children are family to me and I treat them all like they’re my own; love them just how any mum would love their kids.

Now I’m nanna and I love it. My foster daughter is an amazing mum and I’m so proud to have been involved in helping her become the incredible mum I knew she could be. I was there when my foster daughter’s baby was born and I even cut the cord. An incredible moment!

When my foster daughter arrived she hadn’t been in college for 2 years. Now she’s doing her Master's after getting a first-class degree, I’m so proud of how far she’s come and what she’s achieved.

Could you foster? We urgently need more local foster carers to provide loving, safe homes for children and young people in Stockport, especially foster carers who can look after brothers and sisters so families can be kept together.

Foster carers receive ongoing training, support and generous tax-free allowances, with extra for clothing, birthdays and holidays.
