I'm the library services manager and am responsible for the 16 libraries we have in Stockport. Yes, that's right 16 libraries! There are libraries across the borough for our residents to call in. I also have responsibility for our outreach and events programme. That includes the events we have in our libraries and my team attending other events publicising our library service. I often go out to council partners and colleagues to promote the library service. I attend regional and national meetings to promote our library service.

We provide free access to books, computers and a warm safe space for all residents to call in and access our free services.

Our libraries are a safe, non-judgemental space for all our residents to use, so if you want to use our services, or just want a space to chill out and spend some time you can. All our libraries offer free warm drinks for any residents too. We would also recommend you join the library as you can access so many services, you don't need to bring in any proof, just call in when staff are there.

Our free books allow all children, young people and families to share stories together at home or in the library.

Free use of our computers and wifi is available for all our residents, some of our libraries also have tablets you can use in the library.

If you are worried about cost-of-living crisis our libraries offer a range of support. Each of our libraries hosts a freephone our residents can use to call other services. Our library staff can refer residents to Citizens Advice and residents can use Citizens Advice WhatsApp chat by scanning the QR code in our libraries. Our Central Library provides free sim cards for O2, Three and Vodaphone customers.

We also have loads of free events for families. These range from our weekly storytimes for under 5s at all 16 libraries, to one of events like silent discos and film nights! To find out about all our library events you can either call into the library for a free What's On Guide or visit our library events page. You can also find more about what's on for children.

Joining the library has loads of digital services too! Did you know you can borrow free e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines and e-newspapers from our Borrowbox service! Find out more information about Borrowbox.

Just call in to our libraries! Each of our libraries are free to walk in when staff are on in the library. 12 of our libraries also have a service called Open+. This service allows residents to access the library when staff are not there. Speak to library staff to sign up to Open+. Find out about library opening times, locations and Open+.
