I began my career at Stockport Council as a Management Trainee as part of a Graduate Development Programme. My plan was to get the skills and experience I needed and then leave to work across Greater Manchester. I started 15 years ago and I am still here.

Whenever I’ve needed a new challenge or wanted to make that step up I’ve always been able to find an opportunity here at Stockport Council.
It's fair to say it’s a challenging time to work in local government but with challenges brings opportunity and as someone who likes change and who likes to see improvements I am very happy here at Stockport.
I currently work as an Improvement Manager within the council’s Business Support Team. It’s a really varied role which includes managing and supporting the teams that deliver high quality business administrative support to many of our front line services. I also lead on driving through improvements to the ways in which we provide our support.
I hope our work makes a real difference to our colleagues and residents. I am very proud of the work we have achieved and especially proud of the changes we have made more recently in responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Business Support team has many varied roles and provides a real opportunity for someone either just starting out in their careers or for someone wanting to try something new. I am very much looking forward to what 2023 will bring…
