Assistant Team Manager (Assessment)
Laura
I studied at Salford University before coming to Stockport Council to work as a social worker. I completed my ASYE in my first year of employment and really enjoyed the different challenges which arose every day.
Working directly with people has helped me learn and develop in so many ways, the team is very dynamic, we all support each other with the ups and downs of social work. I progressed through the experienced social worker programme and worked with increasingly complex cases which I enjoyed as every day was a new and challenging experience.
After 7 years in the social work role I have moved into an assistant management post within the same neighbourhood team which has been a learning curve, my main responsibilities now include:
- the support and supervision of staff
- completing the ASYE programmes with new staff members
- managing the team waiting lists
- reviewing and authorising Care Act assessments and support plans completed by the social workers
Laura
The team works hard to support and advocate for the residents of Stockport and this enthusiastic supportive working environment is what keeps us committed to social work.
