Aiden

Workforce Development Officer

"I’m Aiden and I am a co-chair of our LGBTQ+ Network. I joined the council after completing my BA and MA in Japanese Studies. I had always been interested in politics and so started an apprenticeship with the council in the Elections and Democratic Services Team. I secured a full-time role after about 8 months and have recently been promoted to Workforce Development Officer in Adult Social Care.

"I have been a member of the network since I started with the authority and took over as co-chair when the current chair went on maternity leave. I had previously ran the LGBTQ+ group at college and so had experience of running a network and it seemed natural to volunteer to support. The group is important to me as it shows colleagues that there are people here to represent them and provide support if they need it."

Information about the LGBTQ+ Network

The LGBTQ+ network meets each month to talk about things that are happening within the organisation. We share information about what is happening in the wider communities and society and have discussions. We like to keep what is happening in other networks and support groups on our agenda and provide support where we can on shaping policies and keeping the workforce a safe and welcoming place.
