What is the legal basis for using your information?
The legal basis for processing your personal data, in accordance with the UK GDPR is:
- (e) Public Task: the processing is necessary to perform a task in the public interest or for an official function, and the task or function has a clear basis in law. You must reference the applicable task/function and its basis in law if you wish to rely on this basis for processing
In this instance the legislation that informs this processing is as follows:
- Childcare Act 2006 Section 1: Duty on local authorities to improve the well-being of young children in their area and reduce inequalities between them
Sometimes the council collects and uses information about you on the basis that you have given us your consent to do so. In these scenarios, you may withdraw your consent and ask us not to use information about you for Family Hub services by contacting family.hubs@stockport.gov.uk.
Where do we get your information?
yourself: through online forms, telephone calls and face to face interactions
we may also receive personal information indirectly, from other agencies, or partners within Family Hubs who are providing support to you
any previous interactions with the council, such as Children’s Services, Public Health, Mosaic, Education
Who do we share your information with?
We might share information with other teams within the council or with other organisations for a variety of reasons, such as to provide services to you, for safeguarding and the prevention and detection of crime.
We will only share your information when necessary and when the law allows us to, and we will only share the minimum information we need to. In most cases, we will get your consent for this although sometimes, we may share your information without your knowledge; for example, to prevent or detect crime or benefit fraud.
How long will we keep your information?
Personal information collected is subject to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council’s records management policies and procedures and will be held in accordance with the council’s records retention schedule.
our enquiry forms will be deleted at the end of the financial year + 2 years
where intervention is required, records are added to the child's casefile and held in accordance with the specific retention schedule. For no further action, records are retained until closure + 6 years
Transferring your information outside of the European Union (EU)
We will not transfer your information outside of the EU.
