  • inform the preparation of Development Plan Documents, Supplementary Planning Documents and associated guidance
  • work with neighbourhoods on their plans
  • work with neighbouring authorities on strategic policies
  • provide statistics to government departments as required

What type(s) of information do we use?

Personal information (such as name, address, email and telephone number) in relation to the preparation of Development Plan Documents (mailing list of those wishing to be kept informed, responses to consultation exercises, or in relation to sites that may be included in the Plan); the Self and Custom Housebuilding Register, the Brownfield Register and Neighbourhood Plans.

What is the legal basis for using your information?

We collect and use this information for the purposes of carrying out our statutory functions under The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended), the Self Build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015, the Town and Country Planning (Brownfield Land Register) Regulations 2017, the Localism Act 2011 and The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

Who do we share your information with?

Information may be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate or independent Examiner for consideration as part of any examination for Development Plan Documents.

We do not routinely share personal information with anyone in relation to the Brownfield Registers.

Information in relation to Self and Custom Housebuilding Registers will be shared as appropriate in respect of the Duties set out in section 2 of the Self-Build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015.

How long will we keep your information?

We hold your data in respect of the Development Plan making process for 6 years following the date the plan is superseded. For the purposes of the Self and Custom Build Register until such times as a suitable plot has been secured and the self or custom build complete, or if we are informed that the person or association on the register no longer wishes to be included. For the purposes of the Brownfield Register until sites have been developed or circumstances change (the Brownfield Register is revised and updated annually).

Transferring your information outside of the European Union (EU)

We will not transfer your information outside of the EU.

For this service all the decisions we make about you involve human intervention.
