- ensure that training is delivered in an inclusive manner with effective feedback to both trainees and parents along with feedback of impact evidence.
- tailor activities to suit individuals
- monitor course progress including consent and outcomes
Bikeability is the government's national cycle training programme, funded by the Department for Transport. The council is working with the below partner organisations to deliver and monitor Bikeability:
- The Bikeability Trust
- schools: see participating schools' own websites
- Active Travel England
Specific privacy information for each of the partner organisations can be found on their websites. The council is a grant receiver and training provider and has access to your data for the purposes listed above.
What type(s) of information do we use?
The council has access to and processes the following information in order for it to fulfil its role for the above purposes:
- trainee’s name, gender, date of birth, year group
- parent(s)/guardian(s) name, email address, home postcode and telephone number
- details of any educational, health or medical issues that are relevant for this training delivery
- any other information that may be relevant to this training delivery
What is the legal basis for using your information?
In line with Article 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a) GDPR your consent will have been obtained for the collection and processing of personal and sensitive (health/disability) data.
The council also processes data under Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR as it is necessary for the council to perform a task in the public interest where it has a duty to provide a road safety service under section 39 of the Road Traffic Act.
If recipients no longer wish to receive the Bikeability service and withdraw consent, we are still required to report all existing data to our funders and do so under Article 6(1)(e) as a task carried out in the exercise of our official authority. Once reporting has been completed, data will be deleted and no longer used.

Information will only be kept for as long as is necessary by the relevant organisation delivering their services as part of Bikeability cycle training.
