  • provide information about our services where you have signed up to our mailing list
  • administrate any events or exhibition submissions
  • protect public areas - our museums have CCTV and you may be recorded when you visit them. CCTV is there to help security and protect museum collections, staff and users

  • CCTV footage and images

What is the legal basis for using your information?

You have consented to the use of your personal information for a specific purpose, such as marketing under Article 6 (1)(a) of the UK GDPR.

We are required to process personal information under Article 6 (1) (e) of the UK GDPR in the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or the exercise of our official authority, such as management of collections or using CCTV to protect the museum and museum visitors.

The legislation we rely on when using your personal information to meet our legal obligations or public tasks includes, but is not limited to, the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964.
