We collect your information to:

  • form the basis of the council's Housing Needs Assessment (HNA). The questionnaire covers a range of areas that we feel are important to capture to shape future housing and related policies and strategies within the borough.

  • help the council quantify the amount of affordable and market housing for sale or rent that is needed in the future across the borough.

The information you provide will be collected and processed by the council’s contractor arc4 and its sub-contractors, all of which are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.

What type(s) of information do we use?

  • Residential addresses and postcodes
  • Data within Housing Register which includes ages, benefit status, disabilities and reasons for wishing to move
  • Housing survey data

The information collected is anonymised, with any personably identifiable information removed, before being analysed and included in a report to be published online.

What is the legal basis for using your information?

The council uses this information in order to fulfil its statutory duty (under the 1985 Housing Act) to investigate housing needs and examine ways of meeting those needs.

Where do we get your information?

We collect your information from you directly by asking you to complete a paper household survey questionnaire or alternatively an equivalent online questionnaire according to your preference.

Who do we share your information with?

The council shares this information with contractor, Arc 4, who have been contracted by the council to undertake this survey.

How long will we keep your information?

We only keep your information for as long as we need to, after which we will securely delete the information.

Identifiable data will be held by Stockport Council for a period up to 2 years for the purpose of a potential audit. After which only anonymous and aggregated data will be held.

All data will be held by Arc 4 for the duration of the contract with Stockport Council (up to Nov 2019), after which, it will be handed to the council.

If you have consented to being contacted regarding future research related to Housing Options for Older People, we will retain your information for no longer than 12 months. To withdraw your consent, please contact Arc 4 on 0800 612 9133.

Transferring your information outside of the European Union (EU)

We will not transfer your information outside of the EU.
