  • receive and investigate complaints regarding Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), on a proactive and reactive basis

  • National Insurance number
  • nationality
  • financial information
  • family and relationship details
  • details of any other member of your household

What is the legal basis for using your information?

The legal basis for processing your personal data, in accordance with the UK GDPR is:

  • (c) Legal Obligation: the processing is necessary to comply with the law
  • (e) Public Task: the processing is necessary to perform a task in the public interest or for an official function, and the task or function has a clear basis in law

In this instance the legislation that informs this processing is as follows:

  • The Housing Act 2004
  • Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976
  • Landlord and Tenant Act 1985
  • Landlord and Tenant Act 1987
  • Protection from Eviction Act 1977

Depending upon the individual circumstances, one or more of the above lawful bases for processing may be applied.

As well as information collected directly from you, we may also obtain or receive information relating to you from:

We sometimes disclose information to individuals and organisations that can support our work including;

  • Ombudsman and regulatory bodies
  • courts and tribunals
  • law enforcement and prosecuting agencies
  • affected parties

How long will we keep your information?

Personal information collected is subject to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council’s records management policies and procedures and will be held in accordance with the council’s records retention schedule.

Transferring your information outside of the European Union (EU)

We will not transfer your information outside of the EU.

For this service all the decisions we make about you involve human intervention.
