- Channel is a multi-agency safeguarding programme run in every local authority in England and Wales. It focuses on early intervention to protect vulnerable people from being radicalised and help them avoid being drawn into extremism
- your data will be used to discuss the given circumstances and concerns with relevant services and make recommendations for support
- to maintain records of the support and services we provide
- to monitor the quality of the support we provide and check how our services are performing overall, for example by requesting your feedback
- to monitor the number of people being referred to the service and the support they receive.

What is the legal basis for using your information?
The processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller (Article 6(1)(e) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 and the Counter-Terrorism and Border Security Act 2019 for the purpose of carrying out our duties as defined by this legislation.

Personal information collected is subject to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council’s records management policies and procedures and will be held in accordance with the Council’s records retention schedule. We will usually keep your information for 6 years from when we close our file.

We will not transfer your information outside of the EU.
