We collect your information to:
- provide you with the garden waste collection service
- consider whether you can receive a reduction in fee
- take payment for your subscription. Online payments are processed using CivicaPay, and therefore once payment has been made your card details are not retained by the council
- provide you with your bin permit
- inform collection crews of your address in order to collect your green garden waste
- contact you if there are any issues or updates with your collection and/or service
- contact you prior to the next subscription year to re-apply

What is the legal basis for using your information?
The processing is necessary for the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation to carry out the service requested.

Who do we share your information with?
- companies working on the council’s behalf to assist in the provision of the service. Where data processors are used we have agreements in place to ensure your personal data is kept secure
- we will not disclose any information to other organisations unless we have a legal duty to release information for the purposes of preventing and detecting fraud or crime or to protect public funds
How long will we keep your information?
Personal information collected is subject to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council’s records management policies and procedures and will be held in accordance with the Council’s records retention schedule. We will usually keep your information for 3 years from when you close your account.
Transferring your information outside of the European Union (EU)
We will not transfer your information outside of the EU.
