Self-service printing
Some of our libraries offer convenient self-service printing options. Whether you need to print documents for work, school, or personal use, our self-service printing is here for you.
You must have a membership to use self-service printing. You cannot use self service printing if you've logged into the library computer with a guest login.
You can use self-service printing during unstaffed, Open+ hours. Find out more about our Open+ libraries.
Self-service printing is currently available in 8 libraries across Stockport, including:

Benefits of self-service printing
The benefits of self-service printing include:
- convenience: print from any device, at any time and pick up your documents when it suits you
- accessibility: our self-service machines are available during unstaffed hours, making it easy to print on your schedule
- cost-effectiveness: save money with affordable printing rates compared to print shops
- eco-friendliness: use shared community resources rather than owning your own. We use recycled paper in our printers and you can choose double-sided printing to reduce paper usage and contribute to a greener environment
How to use self-service printing from a library computer
You'll need to:
- Log in to the computer with your library card details
- Send your item to print. Select your print settings, such as colour or black and white, and the number of copies
- Go to the self service machine and select ‘Pay for Printing’. Scan or log in with your library card details. You can view your prints and change settings such as colour or black and white, number of copies and which pages you want to print. When you're happy, add the items to the basket and pay for your printing.

How to use cloud printing
Our self-service printing includes cloud printing which allows you to print documents from any location or device. To use cloud printing to print your documents, you'll need to:
- Choose the library location where you want to pick up your prints and log in with your library card details
- Upload your documents
- Pay for and release your prints. This can be done at the counter during staffed times or by our self service machines. At the self service machine select ‘Pay for Printing’ and scan or log in with your library card details. You can view your prints and change settings such as colour or black and white, number of copies and which pages you want to print on the self service machines. When you're happy add the items to the basket and pay for your prints.
