Potholes, damage and hazards
2. Safety inspections
Due to the scale of roads that the Council maintains, we take a 'value for money' approach as opposed to responding reactively in order to deliver safer roads.
The Council's inspections are designed to identify all defects that are likely to cause danger or serious inconvenience to the public.
Inspections take place at various stages of the year:
- Shopping centres and mains roads – 12 times per year
- Feeder roads to residential areas – 4 times per year
- Residential roads and passageways – once per year
All routes are surveyed and allocated a condition rating, which assists with the preparation of our major repair programme.
