Resident permits for car parks
A limited number of resident permits are available for residents who live near chargeable Stockport Council car parks.
Find out more about which car parks will be affected, and when these changes will happen.
Cost of a resident permit
A resident permit costs £47.50 per year (£23.75 for Leisure Key holders, or free with a Blue Badge).
Eligibility and conditions
One resident permit would be offered per residential property (not per resident); this excludes businesses
The residence should have no private space or driveway on which a vehicle can be parked, nor should there be any other alternative such as unrestricted on-street parking or an on-street resident parking scheme within 100 metres of the property. If there’s alternative parking available, a discounted resident permit will not be offered
The permit will be limited to use on vehicles which:
- fit wholly within a standard marked parking bay (2.4 metres by 4.8 metres) where applicable
- are less than 1.98 metres in height (this excludes the majority of motorhomes)
We cannot guarantee that a space will be provided. If there’s no available capacity, then vehicles must be parked elsewhere
The permit will be issued for use by one specific vehicle which must be registered at the residential address in question. You must provide evidence of this at the application stage, and this evidence may be requested at any time. A permit may be withdrawn if the required terms are not met
Permit levels will be controlled to manage overall best use of the car park. If a permit is unavailable for a specific car park, an alternative location will be offered (where possible)
You must adhere to all standard signed parking terms
The distance from the front door of the residential property must be within a 100 metre radius of the car park entrance (excluding approach roads)
