Climate and equality

The effects of climate change on all communities include:

  • flood risk
  • extreme heat
  • extreme weather
  • rising fuel, energy and food prices
  • a changing economy
  • loss of biodiversity
  • predicted needs of climate refugees

Climate change affects us all but the impact will be different on each community. We're committed to the values of equity, diversity and inclusion through Climate Action Now and we'll:

  • engage groups, businesses, organisations and residents in every ward of our borough
  • work with schools and young people
  • use accessible and inclusive language
  • work together to create climate networks to reach Stockport's diverse communities
  • install renewable energy technology in social housing
  • make sure the development of green spaces benefits every ward so that our parks, woodlands and orchards are more accessible

These values are embedded in our Borough Plan.
