Other ways to pay

There are many ways to pay for the council services that you receive. If you've received an invoice from us requesting payment, you can do this in a number of ways.

By telephone

Payments can now be made over the telephone by debit and credit card. This is an automated service available 24 hours a day. Please call 0161 474 4050.

You'll need:

  • the amount you want to pay
  • your invoice reference or account number
  • your debit or credit card details

Through your bank

Make your payment to Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. If you pay online you must quote your invoice reference or account number as the Payee reference.

You should allow up to 5 working days for the payment to reach your account.

At a Post Office

Take your bill with you and use the barcode on the front to make your payment by cash or debit/credit card if the outlet accepts these. You should allow up to 5 working days for the payment to reach your account.

By Post

Pay by cheque through the post. Cheques should be made payable to Stockport Council and sent to:

SK1 3XE

Write your name, address and account number on the back of the cheque. Cheques must not be post-dated. If you'd like to receive a receipt enclose a stamped self addressed envelope.
