Activities and events volunteer
Volunteers will assist and facilitate events and activities in libraries across the borough.
Roles and responsibilities
- to assist with events and activities taking place in Stockport Libraries
- facilitate sessions and encourage participation
- to assist with the preparation of events and clearing away afterward
- welcoming participants
- assisting staff with the delivery of themed events and activities to support promotions and campaigns throughout the year
- encourage library users and visitors to take part in activities and have a fun and engaging experience in the library
Activities and events could include:
- hosting coffee mornings/afternoons
- hosting workshops and activities based on your own skills and interests
- helping at events and activities already established in the libraries
- Fun Palaces
- Libraries Week
- Summer Reading Challenge events
Your skills and abilities
The role would suit someone who:
- has good communication and listening skills
- has patience and flexibility
- has a friendly approachable manner with an ability to encourage and motivate
- the ability to work on your own
- good organisation skills
Training, resources and information
An induction will be given and further training offered where appropriate.
Who will be there
You may be running the event or activity on your own or with partners from other organisations or other volunteers, where there's availability. Library staff will be in the building with you.
