People living in certain hostels or night shelters
You may be able to get a reduction if:
- your main home or only residence is in a dwelling. For example; short stay hostel or night shelter providing communal accommodation
Members of religious communities
You may be able to get a reduction if:
- you're a member of a religious community and you depend on the community for your material needs and have no personal income or capital
Members of visiting forces, international headquarters and defence organisations
You may be able to get a reduction if:
- you're a member of a visiting force
- you're a member, or dependant of a member of certain International Headquarters and Defence Organisations
- you have diplomatic privileges and immunities
People living in the annexe of a property
You may be able to get a reduction if:
- the annexe is occupied by a dependant relative. A 'dependant relative' is someone who is either:
- over 65
- severely mentally impaired
- substantially and permanently disabled
Non-British spouses of students
You may be able to get a reduction if:
- neither you nor your spouse are British citizens
- you're prevented by immigration regulations from taking paid employment or claiming benefits
