Grocery shopping
As coronavirus continues to spread, we're all being encouraged to shop online if possible. It's invaluable for many people who are self-isolating.
There are other benefits to shopping online, such as being able to browse for information, compare products and prices. You can also shop on the internet at any time.
Most grocery websites have a similar process when you shop online.
Registering
Registering on a shopping website means that you do not have to enter your payment and delivery details every time you shop there. Different websites may ask you to register at different stages:
- on many websites you can add items to your shopping basket but you'll be asked to register when you proceed to the checkout to pay
- a few websites will ask you to register when you try to add items to your basket
- some websites will allow you to buy items without registering. This is sometimes called checking out as a guest
Shopping
- choose an item: you find your items using the menus or the search bar
- choose your quantity: you type in the number you require or use the ^ symbol
- add to basket: this adds your chosen quantity of that item to your shopping basket
- view basket: you can view what’s in your basket at any time by clicking the View Basket button
- proceed to checkout: select this button to finish adding items and move to payment and delivery details
Delivery
Once you have everything on your list you need to choose how you want it to be delivered. Different websites may have different options, here are some of the most common:
- home delivery - a common option is to have your items delivered to your home address
- pickup point - some websites also have an option to deliver them to a local pickup point, often a physical shop. This is helpful if you do not think you will be in during the day and want to collect your items later
- delivery speed - you can choose how quickly you want your items delivered. Some websites have a free delivery option for delivery in few days. This may be called standard delivery. You often pay more to have items delivered quicker. Sometimes you can even get them the same or next day.
