How we've used your feedback
Your feedback helps us understand what you need and how we can improve and develop services. Here’s how we've listened to your feedback.
Accessing services
You said
Could we have an option to use a phone or computer with someone's assistance to ask for help or apply for services?
We did
Our libraries all offer access to computers and there is always someone on hand to help you. We also now have tablets in our hub sites that you can access and our team will be more than happy to help.
Teenagers and older children
You said
We need more activities for teenagers and older children, like a youth club. Work experience opportunities are also needed.
We did
R Time's detached youth work team has a great offer for young people in both term time and during the school holidays. You can follow them on Facebook.
You can use our children and families directory to search for activities in your local area and beyond. We're looking at the current youth offer in Stockport and how this can be developed.
We've been working closely with Stockroom to deliver youth activities over the school holidays. Stockroom also have a youth night every Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm which is free to drop-in. Visit the Stockroom website to find events.
The Young Inspectors programme gives young people aged 13 to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) an opportunity to complete a course that teaches them to be a Young Inspector. They can then visit services for young people in the community and give feedback on how to make them more accessible.
Promoting the Family Hubs offer
You said
The offer needs to be promoted more and information about what's on the offer needs to be shared.
We did
Over the past 12 months, we've enhanced our offer and developed ways to share the offer:
- using social media
- by producing newsletters and leaflets
- via our Family Hubs teams
We have a new, free Family Hubs app where you can find out what's on offer and access information.
Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) provision
You said
There's a lack of HAF provision for children with high level support and complex needs.
We did
We've extended the existing HAF provision to double the spaces on offer and to offer two additional 1:1 supported clubs.
One of our 1:1 supported clubs has worked directly with Valley School to make sure their children are prioritised to access this specific club. This gives more opportunity to those who are unable to access other provisions.
Following a campaign to encourage new SEND specific providers to apply, we now have a further two providers delivering over summer, specifically for children with SEND. This takes our total to six SEND specific clubs and two 1:1 supported clubs, making us the only authority in Greater Manchester that offers 1:1 specific HAF clubs.
We've made 1:1 supported spaces available at mainstream clubs to make sure that children and young people can access provision with their friends in their local area.
