Access protection markings
If you have a persistent problem with vehicles parking across the access to your driveway from the public highway, then we may be able to assist by providing an Access Protection (H-bar) Marking across your dropped crossing.
The marking costs £196 (at the property owner's expense) and is composed of a solid white line across the entrance to the drive. It has end stop marks on either end to warn other motorists of the potential for illegal obstruction.
Before an access protection marking can be considered, the property owner must have an existing dropped kerb and hard standing (e.g. a driveway). This must be where their vehicle is parked which accords with the council standards.
Where a dropped crossing is shared with a neighbour then the access protection marking will need to be marked across the full width. Under these circumstances one party may take the lead to make the request and pay the fee. However, agreement from both frontage holders will be needed before the marking can be installed.
