3. Noise from scrap dealers
We receive complaints regarding noise disturbance arising from scrap metal dealers, advertising for business through tannoys attached to their vehicles.
Should you experience noise disturbance we can write to the scrap dealers to advise that it is an offence under the Control of Pollution Act 1974 to advertise for scrap metal at any hour using a loud speaker.
The Police can also issue a warning letter under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002, if the vehicle is being used in an anti-social manner or is likely to cause alarm or distress. Should the disturbance continue the Police may seize the vehicle.
