We’re celebrating all things digital in Stockport during Digitober
1st October marks the start of Digitober, a month-long festival that will celebrate the amazing work of Greater Manchester’s digital sector.
Over the course of the month, we will showcase some of the digital projects and services benefitting Stockport Council residents, and support Get Online Week, the national digital inclusion campaign.
Look out for more information on:
- the 16 million page views a year our website gets from people looking to report, apply for and pay for things, and find information on services 24/7
- how Stockport’s DigiKnow partners have now helped over 47,000 Stockport residents get online or improve their digital confidence and skills
- our digital tool that’s helping Stockport social workers to spend more time face to face helping children and their families
- the toolbar on our website that 5000 people a month use to change colours, typefaces and more, to read content in a way that suits their needs

Councillor Jilly Julian, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, said: “Stockport challenges itself to be a radical digital borough. Our digital ambitions for change go way beyond introducing new digital technologies. They are about community, place, inclusion and putting customer needs at the heart of what we do. As a council, we are committed to addressing digital inclusion so all our residents and businesses can make the most of the opportunities of the digital era, ensuring no one gets left behind.”
