Running on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout December, the festival, which is free of charge, celebrates local creativity and community spirit with a collection of Christmas trees decorated by local businesses and organisations.
Our fostering team’s tree has been decorated with beautiful, handmade decorations created by the fostering community, including painted handprints made by children and young people living with local foster families.
Cllr Wendy Meikle, Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, said: “Christmas can be a challenging time for the children and young people in care and our local foster carers do an amazing job making them feel safe and secure in a loving family environment over the festivities. Seeing these decorations is so heartwarming - knowing each one represents a happy, cherished memory for the child or young person who made it.”
The Christmas tree festival is open to the public at the following times:
- Saturday 13 December 9:30am – 11am
- Tuesday 16 December 4:30pm – 6pm
- Saturday 20 December 9:30am – 11am
- Tuesday 30 December 4:30pm – 6pm
- Saturday 3 January 9.30am – 11am
