The festival celebrates the people, places and partnerships that help residents live healthier, happier and more connected lives. It brings together community led activities across the borough, highlighting the everyday support available in local neighbourhoods, from trusted community spaces to inclusive activities that help people feel part of where they live.
As part of the festival, residents can get involved in a range of activities, including a Picnic in the Park run by Pure Innovations, with fresh air, fun and wellbeing stalls. Wellbeing walks will take place across the borough, with routes for all abilities, and there is even wellyboot wanging for something a bit different. Women’s Empowerment Day and afternoon tea events will offer celebration and inspiration. There will be lots of opportunities to get out in nature, connect and get crafty, and that is just the start. Keep visiting the event link below, as new events will continue to be added throughout March.
The activities reflect the festival wide themes of everyday support, community connection and local participation. Speaking about the festival, Cllr Dan Oliver, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, said:

“The GM Live Well Festival is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the strength, kindness and creativity that already exists within our communities. Here in Stockport, we are proud of the people and places that help residents feel supported every day, whether that is through a friendly local group, a trusted community space or a simple moment of connection. I would encourage everyone to take a look at what is on and get involved.”

Live Well Case Study
This winter, Stephen has enjoyed visiting his local warm space at Hazel Grove Library. What started as a simple spot to sit has become a friendly, familiar place where he feels welcome and included. Staff greet Stephen by name, offer a hot drink, and check in with how he is doing. These moments of connection make a real difference to his mental health.
“Life can feel like a treadmill, but now I have somewhere to come,” says Stephen. “To have this provision is great.”
Warm spaces like these are open at every Stockport library and many other free, friendly places across the borough. Residents can drop in to enjoy hot drinks, get online and connect with their community, or simply relax in a cosy spot. Find a warm space near you.
