A Stockport Review EXTRA subscriber is celebrating after winning a cinema ticket package for up to four people at Stockport town centre’s brand new cinema.

It comes after Stockport Council teamed up with The Light Cinema to celebrate the opening.
After launching on the 24th November in Stockport town centre’s newest leisure destination – Redrock Stockport – the prize saw one lucky subscriber to the Council’s monthly e-newsletter, the Stockport Review EXTRA, win a cinema ticket for up to four people plus drinks and snacks once a month for the next three months.
Darren Edwards, of Stockport, was delighted to win the competition and said: “I got home after a hard day at the office on a cold Monday evening and upon checking my emails I was delighted to learn I’d won the Cinema tickets. I have two boys aged 12 and 9, so these tickets will be enjoyed for sure. Thank you very much!
“The Review EXTRA is an excellent reference for me. I don’t need to look anywhere else for information in the area, the review covers so many topics at your fingertips.”
The winner was chosen at random on the 4th December 2017 from the thousands of people who currently read the Stockport Review EXTRA every month. It came after the prize was donated courtesy of Light Cinema.
The Deputy Leader of Stockport Council, Councillor Wendy Wild, said: “I’m thrilled that Darren has won the competition and is looking forward to visiting the fantastic new cinema in our town with his two sons.
“It’s also great to hear why he enjoys reading the Review EXTRA and I’m sure that his views are echoed by our thousands of other subscribers too.
“Our e-newsletter has been a hit from the off as it allows us to communicate more effectively with Stockport residents and businesses whilst reducing the amount of money we spend on the printed version.”
The monthly bulletin was relaunched in October 2016 after the paper edition of the Stockport Review moved to a yearly production.
After starting with just over 500 subscribers, the Review EXTRA now has over 10,500 subscribers.
Anyone who signs up or stays signed up in December will be entered into a competition to win a £100 voucher to spend at Stockport town centre’s first ever Zizzi restaurant – now open at Redrock Stockport.
