The Stockport Local Fund is a new £1 million fund available for local activities and projects that help people to join together and make our neighbourhoods even better places to live in.

The launch event last Thursday gave attendees the opportunity to learn more about the application process and offer feedback on how the Council can make it as easy as possible to apply for funding. There was also the chance to discuss new ideas and projects with other locally-minded people.

Cllr Wendy Wild, Deputy Leader of Stockport Council said:
“It was inspiring to see so many people who are passionate about their local neighbourhoods gather together to learn about our approach to communities and help shape the way we will fund ideas. We were particularly excited to hear the new ideas that are being developed and look forward to receiving applications over the summer.”

Cabinet Member for Reform and Governance, Cllr Elise Wilson added:
“We are investing £1 million in community groups, not just because of the work they do, but also because they promote active lifestyles, skills and cohesive communities. This has both economic and social benefits for Stockport and its residents and I’m delighted to see the Stockport Local Fund being so positively received”
