Stockport prepares another feast of a 3-day Food and Drink Festival

Stockport is preparing to serve up a feast of a 3-day Food and Drink Festival across Stockport town centre from 3rd to 5th September 2021

On Friday, over 30 food and drink stalls will be popping up across the town centre to tempt the most discerning of taste buds with food and drink from all around the world.

There’ll be fun and entertainment for all the family in Merseyway where, as well as the fantastic stalls, you can Spin to Win and have fun at the beach!

On Saturday and Sunday, the festival comes alive featuring 2 outdoor kitchens in Mersey Square and in the Market Place where celebrity chefs Aldo Zilli and Jean Christoph Novelli will perform cooking demos as they rustle up some favourite recipes that will have your mouth watering. You can learn how great food happens - follow the adventures of food and science with BBC’s Stefan Gates.

Stockport’s hospitality offering is growing as more and more independents choose to open their businesses here. Throughout the festival, you’ll have a chance to pop in and check out some of the great new venues and meet some of Stockport’s own highly skilled chefs.

For the children, the ever-popular Mr Bloom will be performing at Stockport’s iconic Plaza on Sunday morning – tickets heavily subsided. Book at The Plaza website.

With pop-up entertainment at the Peel Centre, Stockport Market Place is back with a bang as your favourite events venue. Alongside the fabulous eateries, bars, market traders and independent business in Market Place, an extravaganza of independent businesses specialising in local food, drinks, arts and crafts will delight. The gentle giants, Robinsons Shire Horses, will be popping into their local – The Baker’s Vaults and the Red Bull. Come along and say hello to these beautiful horses. With a kids play area, entertainment, music and the Market Place’s inaugural Twilight Market open until 9pm on Saturday, Stockport Market Place is a great choice, from dusk ‘till dawn.

Cllr David Meller, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said “I’m delighted that we can welcome the Food and Drink Festival back to the town centre to showcase our flourishing food and drink offer, which clearly shows real confidence in Stockport and our ambitious plans for the future.

“Events like this are key in attracting more visitors to Stockport and give a real boost to the local economy. So whether you’re a seasoned foodie or want to bring the family along for a free day out, there’s loads going on to tickle your taste buds. Our local businesses have really struggled due to the impact of Covid, so what better way to show your support!”
