Spring is now here and the council is kicking off its annual campaign in partnership with organisations across the borough.
The Spring Clean programme will bring together council teams, community groups, schools, volunteers, Totally Local Company and local partners to help make neighbourhoods cleaner, greener and even better places to live.
Activity will take place across the borough in the coming weeks with the campaign highlighting civic pride, sustainability and the everyday work carried out by services including Greenspace, Street Cleansing, Enforcement, Parks, council operatives and neighbourhood teams.
This year’s Spring Clean also supports the ambitions set out in Stockport’s draft Parks and Greenspaces Strategy, which has been launched for the consideration of parks groups and stakeholders, and for wider consultation in the summer.
The strategy outlines a long‑term vision for more connected, resilient, multi-generational and accessible green spaces across the borough.
By encouraging volunteering, community action and stewardship, the campaign will help residents play an active role in shaping and caring for the natural spaces that matter to them.
It also shines a light on the vital role local people play in keeping Stockport looking its best, from organised litter picks to the ongoing work of Friends of Parks groups across the borough.
The campaign was launched at the borough’s newest park on Friday 20 March with Cllr Grace Baynham and Streetcare and Greenspace teams from Totally Local Company, the council’s management partner.
Activities will run throughout the campaign, with the council highlighting the work taking place in our communities, including the role the Friends of Parks groups play.

“Our Spring Clean campaign is a brilliant opportunity for everyone to come together and show the pride we all have in Stockport.
“Nobody wants to see litter and rubbish in their community and this campaign is about taking real pride in the places we live. Whether it’s joining a litter pick, supporting a local school project or helping a Friends of Parks group, every small action contributes to cleaner, greener neighbourhoods.
“The council has introduced its Greenspace Strategy, which is all about strengthening and celebrating the natural spaces that make our borough special. I’d encourage everyone to get involved because together we can make a real difference to our borough.”
