Families in Stockport can make the most of the Easter holidays this month, with lots of activities on offer across the borough.

There is plenty going on in Stockport over the Easter school holidays – with many low cost or free events and activities for all the family to enjoy. There’s lots happening whatever the weather.
Some of the events taking place include:
Storytime with Ian Rudolfer-Arnold
Join local author Ian Rudolfer-Arnold as he presents a read-a-loud session showcasing his book, Matilda's Magical Kingdom.

Children's Poetry Workshops
Hare and Rabbit: Travels on a Train is a book of illustrated poems created by Altrincham based artist and writer Pam Bradshaw.
Each of the 24 poems tells of the adventures of best friends Hare and Rabbit on their days out by train along the Mid Cheshire Line. The book was funded by the Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership.
Pam and colleague Steve Evans will be holding free poetry workshops for children and each child will receive a copy of the book.

Flower Dye Art - Seasons of Stories
Drop in and get have fun with our flower dye activity! You'll use a hammer to dye fabric with flowers. It's a hands-on activity where you can get creative and play with nature.
This event is part of our Seasons of Stories program, alongside the story trail we are featuring nature events at Edgeley Library to increase nature connectivity.

An exciting children’s version of our ever-popular Explorer Tours.
Brave the darkened tunnels as you go back in time and experience the life of a child during the war.
Not suitable for children under 7 and, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate babes in arms and toddlers.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Stockroom has Hatched: Our Easter family programme
On Saturday 19 April, a full day of family friendly events are planned to take place in Merseyway. There will be lots going on as we near the opening of Stockroom – our exciting new creative and cultural centre - next month. Bramall Hall
Bramall Hall will reopen to visitors at Easter 2025. Starting Saturday, 19 April, it will be open weekly from Thursday to Sunday, 11am – 4:30pm.
And as part of the ‘Under Our Roof’ restoration project, we’ve launched our first 3D virtual tour of Bramall Hall. You can explore the Hall’s stunning public rooms from anywhere, anytime come rain or shine- visit Explore Bramall Hall in 3D to find out more.
You can also come along and take our interactive trail around Bramall Hall. You'll learn about Easter traditions, spot cheeky chicks hiding, take part in a craft activity and meet a giant version of one of this holidays' favourite characters!

Stockport's Hat Works is the perfect place for the whole family to visit this Easter.
The UK’s only hatting and headwear museum combines the town’s proud hat-making heritage with a fresh, vibrant, globally-inspired collection. Its free-to-view ‘Gallery of Hats’ – an array of colours, shapes, patterns and textures – now includes 1,300 hats and related objects, more than four times the previous number. There’s plenty for little hat enthusiasts to do with new Montessori-style play equipment, challenges, try-on areas and pretend play milliners. Bookable guided tours of the factory floor take visitors back to Stockport’s fur-felt hatting heyday.

Stockport Museum - Bring your little ones for a free day out and find out about the history of Stockport from Palaeolithic to present day. Spend some time in our interactive family gallery and have a go at a craft at our making table!

Staircase House - visit Stockport's oldest town house and discover how our ancestors lived from the 15th to the 20th centuries. there's plenty to discover and touch along the way - write with a quill, try to build a wall and make a coin rubbing. Stockport libraries
Stockport’s libraries will also be open as normal during the Easter holidays to borrow free books, boredom breakers such as jigsaws and board games, access free PCs and Wi-Fi and just spend some time in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Each library is also hosting their regular Storytime when residents with younger children can call in at their library to share stories, songs and craft.
And as part of the I Am Greater campaign, developed with young people from Greater Manchester to encourage them to take positive actions and promote wellbeing – there are local events taking place throughout April – take a look at the I Am Greater website and search for what’s going on in Stockport.
