More than 2,000 downloads in its first year show the growing reach of the Stockport Family Hubs app, which helps families across Stockport access trusted advice, local services and SEND support.
The data shows the app, which translates into 75 languages, is reaching a diverse range of families, helping parents and carers access information for younger children, SEND support and guidance relevant to different local communities. The most-viewed sections include pregnancy and birth guidance, immunisations, local services and SEND information.
Services that support families across Stockport are also using the app to share important information directly with parents and carers, making it easier for families to receive timely updates in one place. Schools and health professionals are also increasingly recommending the app. One Head of Year 7 said: “We have promoted the app at our Year 7 transition night and had lots of parents sign up for the information around teenage issues. It was great to be able to signpost there and then and have parents using the QR code.”
A key benefit of the app is that it sends families timely notifications about important deadlines, local events and updates, helping them stay informed and avoid missing out on support. This is reflected in how families are using the app, with many returning regularly for practical information and support as their child grows.
Having trusted advice, updates and local support in one place can make a real difference, especially at busy or worrying times. One parent from Cheadle said “The app offers lots of very useful information at your fingertips any time of day or night, when you can get niggling worries”. Another commented: “It has lots of information relevant to the age of my child in one place.”

One Stockport Family Hubs bring together services, support and information for families with children and young people from pregnancy to age 19, or up to 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
