Stockport Council shortlisted for national PR awards
The Communications and Marketing team at Stockport Council has been shortlisted in this year’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards.
The team has been recognised for their excellent work in engaging with residents in the borough and has been nominated for ‘Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team’.
The CIPR PRide awards recognise outstanding talents and achievements of public relations practitioners and are the most prestigious and rigorous awards of their kind.
The Council’s Communications and Marketing team is focused on delivering low cost communications and has, in recent years, built up the Council’s online channels. Engagement on these channels has increased significantly in the past year with more than 41,000 followers on all social media accounts – an increase of more than 8,000 from the previous year.
The Stockport Review – the Council's newspaper delivered to every household in the borough – has reduced from four times a year to just once. To fill the news gap this created, the team has created and further developed the online newsletter The Stockport Review EXTRA. Subscription figures have increase from 400 to more than 6,500 in just a few months.
