Stockport Council Jobs Fair looks to help residents find new opportunities within the council

When you think of job opportunities at Stockport Council, what do you think of?

The truth is there are a wide number of jobs available at the council, from business support to democratic services, social care to policy roles. Stockport Council is hosting its first Jobs and Recruitment Fair, to showcase all of the fantastic opportunities on offer to residents who might be interested in a new job or career change.

Taking place on Tuesday 13th September in the Town Hall Ballroom (Stockport Town Hall, Edward St, Stockport SK1 3XE) from 11am – 6pm, there will be a variety of stalls from teams across the council who are looking to recruit right now. There will also be stalls from partner organisations such as Pure Innovations (a local charity which provides support for those with disabilities) and Sector 3 (representing the voluntary and community sector), so there’s something for everyone, whatever you’re looking for.

In addition, CV writing workshops will be hosted by Reed, so bring along your CV and get help and advice to help you reach your potential.

Councillor Mark Hunter, Leader of Stockport Council, commented: “We wouldn’t be able to keep delivering important services for our residents if it wasn’t for the work of our dedicated workforce. You might not know about the broad range of roles we have available at the council, but whatever you’re interested in there really is something for everyone.

“The council is a great place to progress your career, whether you’re looking to take that next step on the ladder or after a complete role change. You’ll learn lots of transferrable skills, and find that the council is a welcoming and positive place to work, and you can access lots of great employee benefits. Whether you’re just curious about what the council can offer, or you’re actively looking for a new role, come down to the Jobs Fair to find out more about the opportunities on offer.”

The event is walk-in, but to help manage numbers and capacity, you can book your ticket via Eventbrite.
