Banners encouraging people to start thinking about becoming foster carers are being displayed at local parks across Stockport.
Situated in busy children’s play areas and tennis courts, it’s hoped the banners will raise awareness about the need for more foster carers and increase the number of people considering fostering for Stockport Council.
Councillor Wendy Meikle said: “We urgently need more foster carers here in Stockport to ensure children can stay close to their communities and thrive in loving family homes. Our parks are a great place where our local residents enjoy being outdoors, playing sports and having fun. We’re hoping some of these local residents who visit the parks will see our banners and consider how they could be the one to help make a real difference to a child’s life by becoming a foster carer.”
Banners can be seen at the following parks across Stockport:
- Woodbank Park, Offerton SK1 4JR
- Torkington Park, Hazel Grove SK7 4RQ
- Marple Memorial Park, Marple SK6 6BB
- Bruntwood Park, Cheadle SK8 1HX
- Alexandra Park, Edgeley SK1 3XE
