Councillor David Sedgwick, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Reform and Governance, said: “When we launched our Instagram account we did so in the belief that people wanted to see more of our iconic buildings, markets, events, people, history and hidden gems throughout the borough on a regular basis. Thankfully, that has proven to be the case.

“We have seen a huge increase in followers and engagements as the account has grown throughout the year, which is great to see because we can see every day just how proud people are of Stockport.

“As well as our own photos, we have loved seeing your own snaps and videos of your favourite places across the borough, which we have happily shared with our followers. We are looking to do more of this throughout our second year on Instagram so please alert us to your posts by either using the hashtag #stockportcouncil or by tagging us with @stockportcouncil so we can re-gram our favourites.”
