Stockport Council calls for more foster carers as Foster Care Fortnight launches

This year’s Foster Care Fortnight theme “This is Fostering” shines a light on the everyday realities of fostering, raising awareness of the profound impact foster carers have on children’s lives and recognising the incredible skills and dedication of our local community of foster carers.

Stockport Council Fostering Service is hosting events throughout May for local residents to learn more about what fostering involves. There are drop-in sessions at Hat Works, Merseyway Shopping Centre and at the town hall, as well as online events. The fostering team will also be at Bramhall’s Duck Race on Sunday 17 May where they will be available to chat to about fostering and also cheering on their duck in the race! For information about all the fostering events taking place please visit www.stockport.gov.uk/fostering-events.

Foster carers receive training, ongoing support and receive generous tax-free allowances, plus extra for clothing, birthdays and holidays. From a few nights a week to a long-term home, if you’re over 21 you can make all the difference to a child’s life in Stockport.
