Thirty six organisations from across the North West of England have been awarded Silver under the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme
Stockport Council have been awarded Silver under the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme for their support to Defence and the wider Armed Forces community.
The Employer Recognition Scheme was launched to reward employers who support Defence People objectives and encourage others to do the same. The council works with the armed forces to help and support current and former servicemen and women and their families in the local area.
This includes employing serving and former members of the Armed Forces community and demonstrating flexibility towards training and mobilisation commitments for Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
Councillor Amanda Peers, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Neighbourhoods said, “Everyone at Stockport Council is delighted to be awarded Silver under the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. The Stockport Armed Forces Community Covenant acknowledges the sacrifices made by members of our armed forces community and ensures those who served and their families are not disadvantaged as a result. We will continue to work in partnership with services and organisations to support current and former service members and their families across our borough.”
