Stockport Celebrates Black History Month
October is Black History Month, and throughout the borough, a host of events will offer the chance to learn the history and heritage of our diverse communities and neighbourhoods.
Displays and book promotions celebrating authors from different cultures and ethnicities are taking place at all Stockport Libraries. Grab a Black History Month book list from your Library and discover some great reads from around the world.
Cllr Helen Foster Grime, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing at Stockport Council, said:“There’s plenty going on over the next month or so – take a look at our website to find out about the great events, exhibitions and workshops taking place to showcase the fantastic cultural diversity of our borough.
Throughout October, ethnically diverse themed stories from around the world will also be shared at Storytime in all Libraries during October.”
