Statement from Stockport Group Leaders on Manchester Reform Synagogue Attack

A statement from Stockport Group Leaders Cllr Elise Wilson, Cllr Mark Hunter, Cllr Mike Hurleston and Cllr Anna Charles-Jones:

“We were shocked and appalled to learn of the horrific anti-Semitic attack on the Manchester Reform Synagogue’s Sabbath service on Friday night.

National Hate Crime Awareness Week took place only recently. We stand together to say again that there no place for hate crime in Greater Manchester.

In Stockport, we’re celebrating our first Equality Month this October, championing the wonderfully diverse communities we have in the borough. We hope these attackers know that they are very much in the minority, and that the majority of Greater Manchester’s residents are tolerant and inclusive when it comes to different religions and races.

Our sympathies and solidarity go to anyone affected by this attack or the news of it.”
