The ground investigations undertaken in the autumn concluded during December 2016 and we have been considering the findings.
The results of this additional phase of ground investigations are being reviewed by the Education Funding Agency but the indications are that with carefully thought out design a new building could be constructed within the existing school site subject to final clarification on specific environmental issues with the Authority. The current school site therefore becomes the focus of the next steps needed for the replacement of the school.

The council has therefore considered that the preferred site for a replacement school is the current site and at this stage an alternative is not required. The Education Funding Agency agree with this and have confirmed that they will bring forward a suitable design which includes determining where on the current site, the most suitable location is to build a new school. Whilst this is an Education Funding Agency project the Council will work in close partnership as the project develops to support the project.

There will be consultation with key stake holders, residents and parents prior to the submission of any planning application for a replacement school.

Further updates will be issued as the project progresses and the school community and local residents will be kept informed of developments.
