Special event for sons and daughters of Stockport foster carers
Stockport Council held an event to recognise and reward the contribution made by sons and daughters of local foster carers as part of the national Sons and Daughters campaign.
On Wednesday 10th October 2018 over 30 sons and daughters of Stockport foster carers were invited to a fun filled night at Jump Heaven Trampoline Park in Hazel Grove.
The children and young people enjoyed two hours in the trampoline, Ninja Warrior, Parkour and Total Wipeout arena and were treated to a buffet and celebration cake. The young people, aged between 5 and 18, were joined by the Stockport Mayor who came along to support the children and to meet local Stockport foster carers.
Declan, whose parents foster, attended the annual Sons and Daughters event and said "Jump heaven was amazing! I like how it's not just trampolines but loads of other stuff too and the slushes were awesome because they had different flavours!"
Councillor Colin Foster, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services, said: “The Council’s fostering service always holds this annual event as it is important to acknowledge and celebrate the huge contribution made by birth sons and daughters of our local foster carers. These children do a fantastic job in welcoming foster children into their homes as fostering really does have a significant impact on the whole household. I am delighted that Stockport Council continues to hold this important event to reward them.”
For more information about becoming a foster carer, contact the Council’s Fostering team on 0161 474 3400 or visit www.stockport.gov.uk/fostering.
The council holds regular monthly open evenings for people to find out more about fostering and the next one is being held on Tuesday 6 November at Stockport Town Hall, starting at 6pm.
