Shop local this Christmas
Stockport Council is encouraging people to add some festive cheer to their communities this Christmas by shopping at local businesses.
With a wide variety of shops in the town centre and in district and local centres, from well-known high street names to small independents, people will find everything they need in Stockport for the festive season.
By choosing to shop local you will bring real benefits to the retailers and businesses in your neighbourhood, helping them to succeed and thrive for the future.
Christmas is now in full swing across the borough with lots of fantastic events taking place, eye-catching decorations and festive fun.
The Council is giving shoppers heading to our district centres, a festive boost by offering free parking in all Council owned pay and display car parks and on-street pay and display bays on:
- Saturday’s leading up to Christmas 2018 including 15th December and 22nd December
- Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
- Saturday 5th January 2019
This includes Council owned car parks in Bramhall, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, and Edgeley (except Armoury Street), Hazel Grove, Heaton Moor, Marple, Marple Bridge, Reddish and Romiley.
Shoppers heading into the town centre can benefit from up to four hours free parking by signing up for Totally Stockport’s free parking at Heaton Lane car park. All you need to do is head to the Totally Stockport's website and sign up for free.
Councillor Kate Butler, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council said: “You’ll find everything you need for a fantastic festive season here in Stockport. We all know that spending locally really helps boost the local economy and benefits local communities so why not rediscover your high street this Christmas to see what your independent retailers have in store for you. And have yourselves a very merry Stockport Christmas!”
