Search is on for young poets who can help to save the environment

Competition to be held as part of Climate Action Now virtual summit being held on November 9

Youngsters across Stockport are being asked to write a poem that will help to inspire residents in the borough to save the planet.

The competition, sponsored by MusicMagpie, is open to under 11s and 11-18 and is part of Stockport Council’s ‘Climate Action Now’ summit that will take place on November 9.

The overall winner will see their poem performed live during the summit, which is being held online.

Prizes for the winner in both age categories – and the overall winner – will be refurbished iPads courtesy of MusicMagpie, while vouchers for MusicMagpie will be handed out to those finishing second and third.

All of the poems submitted will feature in a digital book that will be made available to schools, groups and parents to share in 2022.

Entries can be submitted via email to StockportCAN@stockport.gov.uk

For each poem, please include the following details: name, age, title of the poem, school/youth group and contact details (phone number or email) for those at school/youth group.

The deadline for entries is Friday, October 29.
