Redrock opening celebrated with charity event
To celebrate Redrock’s opening local community heroes, residents, businesses, retailers and other guests came together last night at a charity gala.
Held in aid of local charities Stockport Young Carers and St Ann’s Hospice, which The Light Cinema Stockport have adopted as their Charities of the Year, invited guests were given a first glimpse inside Stockport’s newest cinema as well as an exclusive screening of Wonder.
Welcomed to Redrock by music from a string quartet and community choir, and having the moment captured by the ‘paparazzi’ from Cale Green Primary School, the evening event was hosted by The Light Cinema ahead of their official opening at Redrock today. Local businesses and community groups kindly donated the food, refreshments, time and resources for the event showing their support for the local charities.
The excitement at the event was palpable as guests saw for themselves Stockport Council’s new development that has transformed an area in the heart of Stockport town centre into a brand new leisure destination, now home to The Light Cinema, Zizzi, PizzaExpress and soon to open Loungers, The Gym and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
“We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of Redrock for years,” said Councillor Kate Butler, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration. “The scale of the transformation that has taken place is astounding. The new cinema is stunning and the restaurants and surrounding area all look fantastic. Redrock really is a game-changer for Stockport.”
With free car parking for everyone after 6pm and for anyone going to watch a film at the cinema, Redrock Stockport is part of an exciting investment programme that is currently underway across Stockport, ensuring all parts of the town centre and borough are successful for the future.
