Recycling bring sites - update
Recycling bring sites across the borough are currently being removed, as local residents are able to recycle their waste from their home through their blue, brown and green bins.
The bring sites were installed before the wheelie bins were provided to households and now duplicate the kerbside collection services. Many have become a magnet for fly tipping and illegally dumped trade waste. Recycling from bring sites is also frequently contaminated with mixed plastic and other materials that can't be recycled.
To help residents recycle more from their homes, additional recycling bins can be ordered online.
The Council also provides boxes and sacks to properties that are not suitable for wheelie bins, which accept the same materials as the bring sites and are collected to the same schedule as the wheelie bins. Residents can order these boxes and sacks for delivery on 0161 217 6111.
In addition to the kerbside collections, residents will still be able to take their recyclable material to the Household waste Recycling Centres at Bredbury, Adswood and Rose Hill. Other recycling facilities are also provided by supermarkets at Tesco, Portwood and Sainsbury’s in Hazel Grove and Cheadle.
